Kinaesthetics, What is it, Who is it for, Where can you get it in Japan
Dr. Lenny Maietta and Dr. Hatch
Kinaesthetics is a movement-based educational system. Its` programs provide movement-based insights and tools for health-development and learning to numerous professional groups, families and private individuals. Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy and Japan are at different stages of development.
Where Can You get it in Japan?
Each country has only one organization licensed to sell Kinaesthetics- products and programs. In Japan, Kinaesthetics Japan, made up of the majority of Japanese Trainers, all of whom we have personally trained, is that organization. We are very proud to support and work closely with Kinaesthetics Japan..
About the Name
Over 40 years we have called our work by several names, seeking words that communicate what was being learned. We began with Kinaesthetics, a play on the words kinesis, the sense of movement and aesthetics, an appreciation of motion. In the beginning, Gentle Dance was a playful description, The term Kinaesthetik/Kinästhetik, fit the German language spoken in six of the countries where Kinaesthetics is taught. The term that best fits the intention of Kinaesthetics is “Learning Learning” It refers to discovering individual movement-based learning strategies for each person. In 2000 we retook the original name, Kinaesthetics, expanding it in Europe in 2006 to Maietta-Hatch- or MH Kinaesthetics. to ensure quality in programs and other services to organizations.
What’s in the Name?
Kinaesthetics is a new idea. In over 40 years we trained more than 2000 Kinästhetik / Kinaesthetics / MH Kinaesthetics trainers in European countries and almost 100 trainers in Japan. Many have stayed with us, always expanding their practical skills and understanding of “Health Development”, the central idea of Kinaesthetics. Others have started their own businesses using one of the earlier “non patentable” terms we had used, such as Kinaesthetik hoping to identify with us as a way of selling their own programs. It has become necessary to separate ourselves from those individuals and organizations because Kinaesthetics, MHKinaesthetics is a continuously evolving system. The distinction is in everyone`s interest.
Only trainers and organization representing themselves with terms Kinaesthetics, MHKinaesthetics study and work with us, Dr. Maietta and Dr. Hatch to continuously adapt programs to fit the needs of a particular culture
The focus of Kinaesthetics is life activities. Daily, social, sport, family and work activities are made of motion. Our six movement concepts re-awaken each individual’s sensing of their own motion. Exploratory learning methods using those concepts allow participants to study the movement components of any activity difficult to perform. They learn to adjust movements and change the environment using materials at hand, to enhance life activities and health in real time.
These skills are the source of both productivity and innovation for professionals and private persons
How does Kinaesthetics get integrated into a Culture
The integration of Kinaesthetics is unique to each culture. We begin with an analysis of problematic activities to specific groups. The learning strategies and applications are then adapted to address those problems. Training and applications happen where the work gets done. That is where problems arise and injuries occur
The integration of Kinaesthetics in each culture is dependent on a three-way working relationship between Trainers, the Land Organization and Maietta-Hatch. The process is driven by trainer exchanges about successful problem solving applications and the discovery of new problems that need to be solved.
We are truly happy that Kinaesthetics Japan has set up the relationships that will allow Kinaesthetics to grow in that culture
